August Vegetarian Cooking course

August 11 - August 13

21st – 23rd July

11th – 13th August

A residential vegetarian / vegan cookery course for those who want to learn the secrets behind the delicious food we serve on our residential retreats and in our Stone Barn café This hands-on course includes lots of cooking practice in the kitchen as well as a 5 course tasting menu dinner in the Stone Barn on the first evening!

What to expect

Most of the people who come on our retreats and cooking courses are not vegetarians, and are amazed to see how easy it is to cook plant-based, seasonal meals which not only improve one’s health and well-being, as well as the health of the planet but are absolutely delicious! This year you will have the opportunity to enjoy a very special dinner in the Stone Barn (located just across the road from your accommodation) on the first night. In addition to being a very special experience, the five course tasting menu will serve as an inspiration for the work in the kitchen over the following two days as we replicate some of the elements of the tasting menu into the two lunches and dinner we prepare and share together over the following two days. The course is based on learning-by-doing in the kitchen and coupled with lively discussion – it is a lot of fun!

On this course you will learn

  • How to make 3 delicious vegetarian meals (2 lunches and one dinner) using fresh local ingredients
  • How to replicate some elements of the delicious 5 course dinner you will have on the first night
  • How to make your own sourdough bread
  • How to make fermented vegetables (sauerkraut, etc.)
  • How to use spices and herbs
  •  A large collection of easy, seasonal and healthy vegetarian recipes

DATES

  • 21st –  23rd July
  • 11th – 13th August
  • 18th – 20th August

The course starts with the 5pm ferry from Roonagh on Monday, and ends at 16.45 on Wednesday with the ferry back to the mainland
