SUMMARY:August Bank Holiday Sati Yoga Retreat Ireland 2025
DESCRIPTION:Sati Yoga Weekend Retreat: August Bank Holiday\n1st - 4th August 2025 (Clare Island\, Co. Mayo Ireland)\nCultivating awareness\, embodying change\n\n\n\n\n\nThis four day yoga retreat and meditation course is designed for students (from keen beginners to experienced practitioners) who wish to explore the connection between mindfulness (sati in the ancient language of the Buddha) and the classical eight limb system of yoga. \n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT TO EXPECT\n  \n\nThe practice of mindfulness in meditation can be readily applied to the practice of physical asana\, using classical hatha yoga postures. Within this approach\, meditation\, relaxation and breath training are integral elements. Working with a variety of asana\, this course explores how we can practice with an embodied awareness\, observing emotions and thoughts as they arise\, connecting and staying with our breath. By cultivating both active and receptive awareness\, our yoga practice becomes both deeper and lighter: a sense of spaciousness and ease in our bodies develops while strength and stability results from a groundedness through gravity. \nBy the end of the retreat\, students will have developed an understanding of how this integrated approach can become a tool of transformation within their own yoga practice as well as how it can be applied to other aspects of their lives. \nThe day starts with a 30 minute meditation session\, followed by a 2 and a half hour yoga session. Over the course of the retreat\, we explore sun salutations\, a variety of hatha postures and will play with the relationships between simple\, foundational postures and more complex asanas. \nBrunch follows the morning yoga. There is free time until we meet again for an afternoon session\, based around a more detailed exploration of yogic breathing.  The three course  vegetarian dinner is prepared from vegetables that are grown on the farm. We finish the day with a 30 minute silent sitting meditation. \nThis course would be of interest to keen beginners as well as experienced practitioners\, and especially to anyone who has an interest in meditation. (Those who have done an 8 week MBSR course may be particularly interested). Yoga teachers are also welcome. \n\nPRICE \nIn line with our three tier pricing policy: \n\nStandard cost of this retreat is €620\, please pay this price if you can\nSupported rate is €520 for those who can't afford the full fee\nSupporter rate of €720 is available for those who would like to support our work and encourage us to continue offering a supported rate on our courses.\n\nA 50% deposit\, payable online by Paypal or by bank transfer\, is required at the time of booking. \n  \nWHAT’S INCLUDED\nThese prices include: \n\nThree nights in shared accommodation. SUMMARY:Elemental Yoga and Meditation Retreat - August
DESCRIPTION:Elemental Practice\nYoga and Meditation Retreat\n26th - 31st August 2025\nClare Island\, Co. Mayo Ireland\nJoin us on for this five day yoga and meditation retreat\, exploring the stuff that we're simultaneously made of and connected to : the elements of earth\, fire\, water\, air\, space\n\n\n\n\n\nThis unique yoga and meditation retreat explores the very stuff we're made of - through the ancient teachings of the elements: earth\, fire\, water\, air\, aether (space)\, utilizing creative breathwork\, embodied postural practice\, meditation as well as time spent outside in the elemental nature of the island\, enabling us to directly experience our interrelatedness with everything else. \nVariations upon the theme of the four (or five) elements appear in classical Hinduism\, Buddhism\, Chinese Confucianism\, as well as ancient Greek\, African and closer to home\, Celtic traditions. In contrast\, the common Western belief\, that we are separate and autonomous is a dangerous illusion at the root of the environmental and social crises we face globally. To wake from this illusion is to acknowledge and 'be with' the entanglement of our lives with everything else on the planet. \nFor we breathe because trees breathe\, are born three quarters water\, affected by the moon and the tides\, pulled deep into the centre of the earth by gravity\, drawn upwards and outwards by infinite space. The minerals in our bones\, the iron in our blood\, the material of our tissues\, all of it is borrowed\, all of it belonging somewhere else before us. This retreat is about truly experiencing this inseparability so that it guides us through our lives  - moving beyond intellectual concepts\, so we feel deeply - into our bones\, our guts\, our lungs\, into the relational quality of life. \n\n\n\n\n\nOUR TIME TOGETHER\n\nEach day we will explore a separate element (though of course they are all interconnected). Practice sessions will combine yoga\, meditation\, somatic exploration and interactive exercises. Opportunities for feedback and group dialogue are interwoven throughout the retreat\, providing an important pathway to deeper learning. In addition to group sessions\, students will have opportunities for self-practice.  \nOur exploration of the elements will be enriched by direct practice with the land and sea of Macalla Farm and Clare Island : the woodland\, the cliffs\, the cove\, flora and fauna play an intrinsic and essential role in this retreat (we’ll remind you to be prepared for all types of weather!) \nPlease note that this course involves periods of shared silence. To truly gain the benefits of being on retreat\, we encourage students to turn off phones and any other electronic devices while you are here on the farm. \n \nTEACHERS: Ciara Cullen and Kaeli Sutton \nI am delighted to be joined in the teaching of this retreat by Kaeli Sutton\, a yoga teacher and somatic bodyworker and educator\, as well as a dear friend. Using traditional yoga and meditation teaching methods alongside somatic awareness and interactive approaches\, we aim to create a supportive environment to explore our interrelatedness. \n\nPRICE \nIn line with our three tier pricing policy: \n\nStandard cost of this retreat is €920\, please pay this price if you can\nSupported rate is €790 for those who can't afford the full fee\nSupporter rate of €1050 is available for those who would like to support our work and encourage us to continue offering a supported rate on our courses.\n\nA 50% deposit\, payable online by bank transfer or Paypal\, is required at the time of booking. \nWHAT'S INCLUDED\nThese prices include: \n\nFive nights in shared accommodation. SUMMARY:New Year Sati Yoga Retreat 2025/26
DESCRIPTION:in \n  \nNew Year Sati Yoga Retreat\n28th December – 2nd January 2026 \nJoin us for a very special retreat at the end of December as we welcome in the new year - \nA different and inspiring way to spend the last days of 2025 with like minded people\, working creatively with embodiment through hatha yoga\, breath work and meditation practices. In addition you'll experience the unique elemental nature of the island\, warm and welcoming downtime in front of wood burning stoves and enjoy scrumptious vegetarian/vegan meals - all organic\, all vegetables/fruit from the farm. \nour time together\nBy slowing down\, taking advantage of the time we have together\,  we will explore how becoming more aware\, more curious and interested\, not only changes how we practice – but can potentially add a different  dimension to our ordinary lives off the mat or cushion. \nIntegrating mindfulness (sati in the ancient language of Pali of the Buddha) allows us to deepen our embodied experience\, enabling us to find balance between the physical and mental practices of postural yoga\, breath work and meditation. The longer than usual daily sessions create an interactive space for inquiry and experimentation\, allowing questions\, insights\, feedback. \nWe'll be specifically playing with the awareness of intention - highly relevant as we look forward to the new year - as well as right effort - a classic Buddhist concept\, which becomes very accessible when exploring it through somatic practices. How much effort do I really need to put into the task at hand? Working qualitatively\, being aware of what we're experiencing at any one moment we discover how to intentionally cultivate the qualities we wish to be present\, such as curiosity\, discernment\, kindness. \nworking with silence\nWe also like to work with periods of silence (a rare and precious thing\, especially this time of year) \, and the last day of the year\, the 31st will be silent\, with sessions designed to be particularly supportive so as to navigate this space for reflection\, culminating in a meditation finishing at midnight as we welcome in 2026. To truly gain the benefits of being on retreat\, we also encourage the turning off of phones and any other electronic devices while here. \nPRICE\nIn line with our three tier pricing policy: \n\nStandard cost of this retreat is €920\, please pay this price if you can\nSupported rate is €800 for those who can't afford the full fee**\nSupporter rate of €1020 is available for those who would like to support our work and encourage us to continue offering a supported rate on our courses.\n\nA 50% deposit\, payable online by bank transfer* or Paypal is required at the time of booking. \n**if your current financial situation is such that the supported rate is not possible for you\, and you really feel you will benefit from attending the retreat\, please get in touch to see how we might work out an alternative plan. SUMMARY:July Summer Retreat
DESCRIPTION:July Sati Yoga and Meditation Retreat\n21st - 26th of July 2026\n\n\n\n\nMoving from Practice to Praxis\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for this special summer retreat  – one that offers the time and space for deep inquiry into the nature of practice through the exploration of classical yoga\, early Buddhist teachings\, contemporary mindfulness\, somatic and breath techniques\, allowing us to experience the transformative nature of these endeavours\, and their relevance to the fractured times we're living through.\nIn addition\, you’ll experience the welcoming atmosphere of Macalla Farm and the unique elemental nature of the island which we will explore directly as part of the week's practice.  And we can't forget to mention the amazing food!!!  scrumptious vegetarian/vegan meals – all organic\, all vegetables/fruit grown on the farm.\n\n\n\n\nOur Time Together\n\n\nBy consciously slowing down\, we will explore how practice and the mastery of necessary skills are transformed through reflection\, intention\, purposefulness into praxis - essential for creating meaningful change and growth\, not only in our own lives but in society. There’s no more urgent time to be exploring this ethical dimension and its application! \nKey to our endeavours is the integration of mindfulness (sati in the ancient language of Pali of the Buddha)\, which allows us to deepen our embodied experience through supportive qualities and values we wish to cultivate\, as well as navigating and being with discomfort\, boredom\, unease when they arise. \nInvestigating our relational experience – to gravity\, to the space that surrounds us\, we gain an understanding of natural alignment of the body\, necessary for meditation\, free and relaxed breathing\, easeful asana practice – for the overall integrity of our embodied existence. This exploration of inter-relationality and inter-connectedness will be enriched by direct practice with the land and sea of Macalla Farm and Clare Island  (we'll remind you to be prepared for all types of weather!)\nThe length of the daily sessions provides for interactive inquiry and experimentation\, encouraging questions\, insights\, feedback as well as periods of self-practice. This course will be of interest to keen beginners as well as experienced practitioners and teachers\, especially to anyone with an interest in establishing or furthering their meditation practice.\nPlease note that this course involves periods of shared silence.
