Sati yoga intensive weekend August

23 August 2018 - 26 August 2018

This weekend intensive is ideal for experienced students who have an established daily practice in any style of yoga and those who have already studied the Satiyoga approach with us. We will explore the use of various mindfulness practices, particularly those which enhance our awareness of the breath, with a view to deepen our practice while  maintaining the balance between physical and meditative practices. The basics of classical yoga as well as elements of the Anapasati and Sattipathana Suttas (the main discourses in which the Buddha explains the establishment of mindfulness) will support our inquiry.

Satiyoga offers us a way to slow down our practice, whilst maintaining an intensity of focus.  We will experiment with vinyasa practice while paying close attention to the quality of the breath. The emphasis in on working skilfully with the breath to increase flexibility or strength as needed
This course also introduce a unique approach to breathwork, drawing from both the Buddhist perspective exposed in the Anapanasati sutta and the practices of classical pranayama.

This retreat is designed for experienced yoga or meditation practitioners, and is particularly suitable for yoga teachers who want to explore new ways of working with the breath. This course would also be an excellent taster for our upcoming toga teacher training course – Satiyoga Foundation Training, beginning in October 2018.

Formal meditation practice is an important part of the retreat and there will be plenty of opportunities for feedback and Q&A.

Please note that this course involves periods of silence. To truly gain the benefits of being on retreat, we will also ask students to turn off phones and any other electronic devices while staying at the farm.

This course is only suitable for people with an established yoga or meditation practice. Participants must be able to sit still in either padmasana, siddhasana or virasana / vajrasana for at least 20 minutes. Yoga teachers are very welcome and will greatly benefit from doing this course.
