Finding Our Feet
embodiment through the cultivation of awareness of body, breath and mind
As we tentatively emerge from these unprecedented months of constraint and uncertainty, finding our bearings becomes of paramount importance.
Join us for this unique five day retreat during which we will find our feet, fully experiencing the earth beneath us, connecting to our body, breath and mind through the deepening of the quality of sati, (mindfulness). Exploring the felt sense of the body brings an enlivened presence. Connecting to the earth’s gravitational force, learning to undo tension and holding patterns, frees us, making us lighter yet at the same time, deeply rooted and resilient. A variety of yogic and early Buddhist practices centred on posture and breath work along with meditation practiced both inside and outside in nature, lays the foundation for a groundedness that will stand for us in these uncertain and ever changing times. These practices can also guide us in addressing the urgent questions that have come into sharp focus: how do we really wish to live? what values do we hold dear? How can we respond appropriately to the multiple additional and equally urgent crises of our time: namely those of climate, ecocide, inequality, injustice that have not gone away during the pandemic? In finding our feet – again – or for the first time, we become better equipped to begin the work of transformation, both of ourselves and our society.
This course is open to all levels, though it is recommended you have had some previous experience of yoga and meditation.
